About Our Team
CPAs, enrolled agents, and tax attorneys — many of whom teach taxation. You're not just a number.
Managing Partner
Richard has led the firm as managing partner since 2010. A CPA, enrolled agent, and tax attorney with advanced degrees in both law and accounting, he brings a rare combination of legal, accounting, and planning expertise to clients' most complex questions — from multi-entity businesses to estates and trusts. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Alabama, and a Master of Accountancy in Taxation from the University of South Carolina. He is a former member of the AICPA's Technical Tax Advisory Panel and past chair of the American Accounting Association's Tax Policy Committee, and has taught taxation at the University of South Carolina, North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina, Colorado State University, and Washington State University. Earlier in his career, Richard was a tax associate at Arthur Andersen and chief executive of a multi-office Jackson Hewitt franchise. Today he focuses on individual and small-business tax, proactive tax planning, estate and trust fiduciary matters, IRS controversy, and building the technology that makes the firm faster and more accurate.
Partner
Scott brings more than 35 years of tax experience to the firm, which he joined in 2010. An Enrolled Agent, he practices regularly before the Internal Revenue Service and the South Carolina Department of Revenue — representing clients directly when it counts. Before joining the firm, Scott managed multiple offices for national tax franchises across the Carolinas and Alabama. Earlier still, he spent 25 years as chief executive of local governments in Aiken County, South Carolina, and Pasco County, Florida — experience that makes him as comfortable with operations and leadership as with a tax return. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina. Scott works closely with individual and small-business clients on returns, tax audit representation, and planning.
Executive Assistant
Ann keeps clients supported and everything moving — from first contact through filing. As the firm's executive assistant, she's often the friendly voice that makes working with us feel easy, coordinating documents, scheduling, and follow-up so nothing falls through the cracks.
